American Powdercoating, LLC is an independent finishing house located in East Hampton, Connecticut. The business was formerly known as East Hampton Powdercoating and was purchased from Mark Mukon in May of 2005 by Walt Peplau and Rob Patten.
The 6000 square foot shop contains two ovens ranging in size from 4x4x7 to 8x16x6 for those larger projects. Two powder booths and several guns allow the flexibility to handle large production work or small batches.
Walt Peplau’s background is primarily automotive. As a car enthusiast, he has restored several high profile vehicles including a catalog cover feature and numerous show trophy wins. A registered Mustang Club of America show judge, he brings attention to detail and prep work. After graduating from Central Connecticut State University, he co-founded an auto parts store in Portland, Connecticut and maintains a large network of connections in the auto, marine, and motorcycle industries.
Rob Patten has been directly involved in the finishing industry for over twenty years. Beginning with painting, he has seen the transformation to the use of powder first-hand. Prior to purchasing the business, Rob was the production supervisor at a large manufacturing plant in Middletown, Connecticut. His vast experience is a great asset when dealing with an order of any quantity or finish.
